SUNY Ulster seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial and collaborative leader to serve as its next President. The College is a publicly supported community college providing educational access and opportunity in a highly supportive environment with a personalized student experience. The new President will lead SUNY Ulster at a time of tremendous opportunity with an energized faculty and staff who are eager to move the College to new levels of excellence.
Founded in 1961, SUNY Ulster is a unit of the 64-campus State University of New York, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley less than two hours from New York City. SUNY Ulster offers more than 60 academic programs in arts, business, communications, criminal justice, education, human services, humanities, liberal arts and sciences, nursing and health, public safety, science, technology, engineering, math and veterinary science. Shorter length certificate programs are also offered, as well as continuing and professional education courses. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the College enrolled 4,970 students, including 1,764 full-time, 1,954 part-time, and 1,252 high school students enrolled in credit courses. SUNY Ulster employs over 400 faculty and staff and has an overall budget of approximately $29.2 million.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President will work with the campus community to implement the strategic vision for the future of SUNY Ulster – ensuring student success with quality programs that meet the needs of students and the economic needs of the region. S/he will lead by example, enhancing the strong sense of community and the student-focused environment of the College. As the chief ambassador for SUNY Ulster, the President will enhance partnerships and relationships with local government, alumni, area businesses, industry, and other educational institutions and civic organizations. The President will also provide strong and transparent leadership in managing the College’s budget while acquiring necessary financial resources from diverse sources.
