The District Board of Directors for southwest Wisconsin Technical College located in Fennimore, Wisconsin, invites applications and nomination for the position of President of the College.  The President is the chief executive officer of the College and reports to the nine-member District Board which operates under policy governance model.  This position is available due to the upcoming retirement of President Duane M. Ford, Ph.D. on June 30, 2015.  The District Board seeks an experienced educational leader with a commitment to the technical college mission and vision. 

 

Located in the beautiful driftless region of southwestern Wisconsin, Southwest Tech offers state-of-the-art education, training, and technical assistance opportunities supported by outstanding student services, facilities and equipment.  Over the past six years, the campus has been transformed and renewed as a result of a $31.9 million referendum approved by the District voters in 2008 and subsequent capital improvement projects.  Southwest Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.

·         Understanding of the technical college mission and commitment toward working to enhance the image of the College in the region.

·         Ability to collaboratively develop a shared vision and strategic direction for the College’s future that will be supported by both internal and external stakeholders.

·         Possess high professional standards characterized by honesty, integrity, openness, and fairness in personal and professional interactions.

·         Highly visible, highly engaged among all stakeholders, and familiar with the diverse needs and populations of a district in a rural area some distance from urban communities.

·         Promote and support an environment where teaching and student achievement are central to the College’s mission.

·         Proven experience advancing an organization through continuous quality improvement where all staff members are held accountable.

·         Provides leadership to ensure that the College remains financially healthy and continues to develop new programs and services to meet constituent needs.

·         Experience advocating for economic development and has a track record of developing or expanding programs and services to address workforce training and emerging workforce requirements.

·         Ability to develop significant alternative funding and resources through direct leadership of the Southwest Tech Foundation, working with external funding sources, and the cultivation of partnerships with business, industry, and community organizations.

·         Understands, values, and is committed to an effective relationship with the governing board.

·         Experience strengthening and building cooperative partnerships with secondary schools and articulation with post-secondary and transferring institutions.

·         Experience working with local, state, and national legislators, and governmental agencies to advance College interests and garner additional financial resources.

·         Proven experience enhancing teaching/learning options, including alternative delivery, emerging technologies, and providing educational solutions to a large rural district.

·         Ability to daily practice and continuously model Southwest Tech’s Core Abilities.

 

Qualifications:

·         The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years as a senior level administrator at an accredited educational institution.

·         A master’s degree from an accredited institution; doctorate degree preferred.

·         Two years of teaching experience in any recognized educational system.

·         The ability to be certified by the Wisconsin Technical College System.
