Job Description

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Student Affairs (VP SA) establishes institutional priorities for enrollment management, advising, career planning, and student life and collaborates with all campus partners to develop appropriate plans for strategic recruitment, retention, transfer and degree completion. The VP in concert with the executive staff develops long term and immediate activities and programs to uphold the College’s mission and strategic plan. Placing student success at the center of all strategies, this leader creates an environment that values diversity, promotes trust and respect for all and enhances engagement activities to develop student leaders prepared for successful transfer to a four year academic experience or for successful entry into the workforce. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *As a member of the President’s Cabinet and executive leaders of the college, works collaboratively across the college to support student success and oversees the establishment of a college-wide comprehensive strategic enrollment plan that maximizes current and future enrollment health. *Provides leadership and vision in all areas of student affairs including but not limited to admissions, enrollment management, orientation, student life and leadership development, academic, transfer and career advising, student success programs, health and disability services, judicial affairs, and graduation. *Works closely with academic affairs leaders to promote enrollment management as a comprehensive and integrated approach toward enhancing and improving retention, transfer and completion rates of NSCC students. *Advocates for strong student support services *Maintains and strengthens relationships with four year colleges and universities and local K – 12 systems, community partners and employers to improve student success. *Promotes and expands a student-centered environment responsive to the needs and interests of all students grounded in the teaching and learning process. *Responsible for overseeing the assessment of student services for continuous improvement in collaboration with the Planning, Research and Assessment team as well as other appropriate cross-college stakeholders and advancing college policies that are reviewed through an enrollment management lens. *Promotes academic success by improving access, transition, persistence, retention and graduation in keeping with the goals of the MA Vision Project and the Performance Funding formula. *Leads all aspects of the Student Affairs division ensuring an efficient, effective customer service friendly organization characterized by an appreciation of diversity and team spirit. *Supports a co-curriculum that engages students and develops future leaders and that enhances civic learning, providing an avenue for participation in college and community life. *Chairs the Enrollment Management Team and serves on committees. *Performs other duties assigned by the President. Requirements: *Doctorate preferred, master’s degree in relevant discipline required. *At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience and success in higher education student affairs and enrollment services, at least 3 of which must be at a management level. (community college experience preferred) *Demonstrated familiarity with functional areas reporting to the VP. *Demonstrated effective leadership and vision in planning, implementing, evaluating and advocating for a wide range of student oriented programs with a student centered approach. *Is a proactive, creative strategic thinker with a strong customer service orientation. *Familiarity with and an appreciation for the mission of a community college. *Demonstrated knowledge of and fluency in an integrated database system. (Preference for experience with Ellucian Banner). *Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills and an ability to inspire others to accomplish their best. *Demonstrated knowledge of current national best practices and trends in recruitment, enrollment, retention and student success. *Demonstrated experience utilizing data in decision making and goal setting. *Demonstrated ability to anticipate and respond to change. *A leader who genuinely values cultural, racial and economic differences
