Nominations and applications are now being sought for an Executive Director to provide administrative leadership and oversight to the development and expansion of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) programs at UIC, including the Tutorium in Intensive English (TIE). As UIC advances towards the implementation of its new strategic plan, it seeks a dynamic leader who will foster the growth of innovative and transformative programs for multi-generational learners with a special focus on alumni and neighboring communities. At present, the Executive Director is responsible for managing an annual budget of $7M, a full-time staff of 30 employees and enrolls approximately 3000 participants. Created in 2007, the School merged several existing UIC units offering credit and noncredit programming to adult professional audiences. It currently operates in partnership with UIC’s Colleges of Nursing, Medicine and Education to offer online credit certificate and degree programs. On-ground credit and noncredit coursework to teachers, managers of nonprofit organizations and students of English as a Second Language. The Director establishes strategic directions and initiatives; determines allocation of human and fiscal resources: creates and maintains critical internal and external relationships to support development of the School’s mission; and undertakes planning for its programs including credit and non-credit online, professional development and certificate programs. Position Qualifications: A minimum of a masters degree with 7 years of experience in an academic non-profit setting with at least 3 years in university-level administration. Prior experience in educational programming and outreach to diverse organizations and populations is also required. Doctorate or terminal degree is preferred, as is experience in managing substantial budgets, managing staff in varied functions, and experience interacting with individuals at a leadership level.
