Job Description

Position responsibilities: Reporting to the Vice President for Student and Academic Affairs, this key position is responsible for providing leadership and management of programs and operations within Student Affairs in a multi-campus environment. Supervision includes: enrollment management, academic advising, financial aid, registration and records, academic support services, student support services and programs, disabilities services, career and personal counseling, student conduct and judicial actions, and multicultural student life programming. The Dean of Student Affairs will be expected to: • Ensure the operational success of all units housed within Student Affairs • Engage in cross-campus collaboration to plan and implement targeted strategies to improve student success and satisfaction, retention, transfer, and completion • Interact directly with students to resolve barriers to success; build strong relationships with Student Senate and student organizations • Provide leadership to Student Affairs in the efficient collection and analysis of data to inform decision-making • Administer college policies and procedures in accordance with MnSCU, state, and federal policies • Promote a culture at SCC that is welcoming and accessible to diverse students, faculty, and staff Minimum Qualifications: • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline • A minimum of five years of full-time employment in a post-secondary educational institution with progressively responsible positions managing and supervising student affairs • An understanding of the mission and role of community and technical colleges • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to facilitate the development of a customer-centered team of professionals • Demonstrated ability to analyze data to identify student issues, trends, and needs • Ability to advocate for efforts that promote an inclusive environment that is responsive to the needs of diverse and/or underrepresented students • Experience with developing appropriate student success programs and services • Knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations related to student affairs functions • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline • Ability to monitor and guide staff activities to align with MnSCU strategic plans • Experience in developing, implementing, and assessing programs of student success • Experience in supervising student support services, such as tutoring, counseling, advising, student life, and financial aid • Experience in developing and implementing strategic enrollment plans • Experience with emerging technologies to enhance student success and satisfaction • Demonstrated commitment to enhance diversity efforts • Experience with collective bargaining units Apply online at http://agency.governmentjobs.com/southcentral/default.cfm and click on Academic & Administrative Positions.
