Coordinator’s Duties 50%
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise the delivery of Student Success and Support Program services for all students in compliance with state guidelines and college policies and procedures.
• Provide program leadership for counseling services; develop strategies and activities to encourage and foster innovation that will increase the number of students completing their academic goals in a timely manner.
• Assist in the preparation, coordination, and implementation of the college’s Student Success and Support Program plan; submit state Student Success and Support Program reports as necessary.
• Assist in the development of the college catalog, class schedule, and other publications.
• Provide leadership in areas of student intervention strategies; provide interventions for probationary and disqualified students.
• Maintain liaison with education and community-based organizations.
• Work closely with the Institutional Research Office in developing student reports.
• Complete Annual Program Review Reports for Student Services; develop and assess student learning and program level outcomes.
• Assist in the development, preparation, and monitoring of the annual budget for Counseling/Student Success.
• Responsible for maintaining the college’s Counseling Services webpage and related pages.
• Lead or participate in committees, initiatives, or teams as assigned; be responsible and accountable for completion of assigned tasks.
• Train and supervise staff, coordinate staff work assignments, facilitate staff meetings, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel in accordance with district policies.
• Maintain active participation in statewide organizations as appropriate.
Counseling Duties 50%
• Provide comprehensive counseling services to community college students from diverse backgrounds regarding degree, certificate, transfer and vocational education program planning, career planning, career decisions, goal clarification, and personal life management.
• Develop and monitor electronic Student Educational Plans and utilize information to assist students in meeting their goals.
• Provide academic, career, and personal counseling to students in all educational programs.
• Assist undecided students with clarifying or establishing appropriate educational and career goals.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the disabilities and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of students.
• Serve as liaison with academic divisions, departments, or special areas.
• Maintain and update individual records on all counselees.
• Conduct group counseling and guidance sessions and/or workshops.
• Make appropriate referrals to on-campus and community resources.
• Provide departmental participation in the Student Success and Support Program such as orientation, counseling, educational planning, and follow-up services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling OR the equivalent. NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline. Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. NOTE: Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications shall provide conclusive evidence that they possess qualifications that are at least equivalent to those required by the minimum qualifications of the area for which they are applying. It is the responsibility of the applicant to supply all evidence and documentation for the claim of equivalency at the time of the application.

ANTICIPATED STARTING COMPENSATION
Based upon the 2013-14 12 month salary schedule, the salary range is $64,241.00 to $124,253.00. An annual doctoral stipend of $3,500.31 is included in addition to the salary when appropriate.
ASSIGNMENT & ANTICIPATED START DATE
The assigned work year is 225 days per academic year. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2014.
