Lehigh Carbon Community College invites nominations for and applications from individuals interested in assuming an exciting leadership opportunity as the college’s fifth president in forty-eight years. The president serves as the chief executive officer of the college, reports directly to the Board of Trustees, and is charged with leading and motivating faculty and staff in the development and implementation of the college’s mission and policies.
As a leader of the institution and the community, the president should be a broad-based, high level administrator/manager/leader with a demonstrated commitment to the concept of the open access, comprehensive community college. This person should also be committed to educational and training programs designed to meet student and community needs through credit and non-credit offerings on campus, at the satellite sites, in client locations, and online. The individual should be committed to establishing cooperative relationships with local and state agencies to promote regional economic development as well as committed to establishing cooperation with local institutions and the community in the use of facilities and resources. In addition, the individual should be an ambassador who is actively involved in community affairs, organizations, and agencies and who champions the college’s mission, services, and needs of
alumni, sponsoring school districts, local and state officials, business and industry, and the community-at-large.
The successful candidate will possess a full understanding of the funding model for community college’s and the strategic and comprehensive approach to institutional advancement, fundraising and donor development.
This person should also be an agent of change with the desire and ability to promote joint ventures with organizations in the private sector and other educational institutions while maintaining the integrity and independence of the community college. Moreover, it is important this individual is a dynamic, inspirational leader who can motivate and energize faculty and staff to grow professionally and to respond creatively and effectively to the changing educational needs of students, the workplace, and community. The successful candidate should be an innovative, senior-level leader who possesses strong human relations skills to support the faculty and staff and who can demonstrate previous success in building teams, bringing about consensus, and overcoming adversity as well as being an energetic administrator who possesses a walk-around management style which incorporates objectivity, sensitivity, transparency, honesty, a sense of humor, and fairness, and who readily and publically recognizes and promotes the value and accomplishments of a dedicated, professional staff. This individual must also have proven support of shared governance within the higher education environment.
The successful candidate must have a terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution. A doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. An interest in, competence in and commitment to sound academic principles is required. It is also required that the successful candidate have ten years of senior leadership and significant administrative/management experience in higher education.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
