Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) invites applications and nominations for president of Normandale Community College (NCC).
Normandale Community College seeks a visionary leader to work with college faculty, staff, students and the community in an energetic pursuit of our mission. Our new president will have the opportunity to build on a 48-year record of growth, innovation, and collaboration while leading the college to new levels of educational excellence and service to the community.Our 15,000 students come from a diversity of backgrounds. We have a strong commitment to continuous improvement exemplified by our participation in AQIP (Academic Quality Improvement Program). The college boasts three Jack Kent Cooke scholars over the past five years, and has received numerous state workforce development grants as well as NSF and HHS grants.
The college has a strong history of successful student transfer to MnSCU universities, the University of Minnesota and private colleges. To further strengthen its transfer mission, the college recently completed a 76,000 square foot Partnership Center that houses bachelor and master degree programs in partnership with MnSCU universities. The college also has strengths in selected career programs, continuing education and customized training.
Normandale Community College is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. With 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, MnSCU is the largest provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. Under the leadership of Chancellor Steven Rosenstone, the MnSCU system is committed to ensuring access to an extraordinary education for all Minnesotans; being the partner of choice to meet Minnesota’s workforce and community needs; and delivering to students, employers, communities, and taxpayers the highest value, most affordable option.
Reporting to the chancellor of the MnSCU system, the president of Normandale Community College serves as chief executive officer responsible for leading the faculty and staff in fulfilling the college’s mission. The president serves on the system’s leadership council, which consists of the chancellor, the chancellor’s cabinet, and the 31 college and university presidents. As a member of the leadership council, the president will contribute to the overall direction of the nation’s fifth-largest system of higher education.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader and proponent of the community college mission, with a demonstrated commitment to student success. While progressive responsibility in higher education administration is desirable, comparable experience in business, government, etc. will be considered. A terminal degree is preferred but not required.
