Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) invites applications and nominations for president of Minnesota State College Southeast Technical (MSCST).
Minnesota State College Southeast Technical seeks a visionary leader to work with college faculty, staff, students and the community to realize its mission. The president has the opportunity to sustain and build upon a 65-year record of growth, innovation, and collaboration while leading the college to new levels of excellence and service.
Southeast Technical has two campuses located in Red Wing and Winona, Minnesota. Although the campuses are set sixty miles apart along the Mississippi River, they remain cohesive in structure, policies, procedures and mission.
Southeast Technical’s graduate job placement rate has averaged over 94% for the last five years. A diverse program mix delivers applied learning in a friendly, supportive atmosphere with personal attention from faculty and staff. The college’s signature programs draw students from across the state of Minnesota and beyond. Many degrees transfer into bachelor degrees.
Southeast Technical’s rich history includes excellence in instruction and high academic expectations and performance. Additionally, numerous partnerships with local, state, national, and international business have led to significant business and industry financial support through the college’s foundation - awarding more than $110,000 in student scholarships each year.
Recently, Southeast Technical was selected to receive a $1.76M in federal grant to establish and deliver a Diesel Mechanic Technician diploma program. Collaborating with nine other colleges located along the Mississippi River, this funding will offer students an exciting opportunity to train for high wage, high demand jobs in a new, state-of-the-art transportation facility. In 2012, the college entered into a faculty and student exchange program with its sister city college, Quzhou College of Technology in Quzhou, China.
Southeast Technical is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. With 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, MnSCU is the largest provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. Under the leadership of Chancellor Steven Rosenstone, the MnSCU system is committed to ensuring access to an extraordinary education for all Minnesotans; being the partner of choice to meet Minnesota’s workforce and community needs; and delivering to students, employers, communities, and taxpayers the highest value, most affordable option.
Reporting to the chancellor of the MnSCU system, the president of MSCST serves as chief executive officer responsible for leading the faculty and staff in fulfilling the college’s mission. The president serves on the system’s leadership council, which consists of the chancellor, the chancellor’s cabinet, and the 31 college and university presidents. As a member of the leadership council, the president will contribute to the overall direction of the nation’s fifth-largest system of higher education.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader and proponent of the community college mission, with a demonstrated commitment to student success. While progressive responsibility in higher education administration is desirable, comparable experience in business, government, etc. will be considered. A terminal degree is preferred but not required.
