The position will provide operational leadership and strategic coordination of credit and non-credit courses. The director has a focus on combining credit and non-credit programs to create educational pathways that lead to skilled positions in computer technology, health care, advanced manufacturing, and energy and energy services.
The position is to maintain & strengthen existing relationships, cultivate new and grow relationships where opportunity exists with Business, Industry, and Community Organizations with a focus on regional awareness and workforce needs, while developing a close working relationship with the academic divisions and our internal career development office. The position develops innovative models for delivering education and training to companies of all sizes.
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of six years industrial sales or sales management experience in technical and/or business areas. Must be able to solicit business and present with confidence in a variety of industrial and business organizations. Training or teaching experience preferred. Must have the ability to work independently, solve problems, and attend to the detail that will ensure customer satisfaction. Excellent leadership, sales, interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills are required. Significant experience in business/industry management and/or small business is preferred as well as a demonstrated network of relationships with community and business leaders and agencies.
The ability to work with peers and supervisors in a positive way to achieve the vision and mission of the college.
Builds relationships by initiating and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders; identifies partnership opportunities, cultivates a network to meet the College’s goals. Determines the needs of business and industry in our region. Collaborates with academic divisions (Deans, Department Chairs and Faculty) to develop contracted training, consulting, certificate programs, continuing education programs, and related educational services that meet the needs of business and industry. Encourages business to send their employees to credit classes that satisfy workforce development needs. Coordinate, synergize and add value to the business and industry outreach that is being performed in our academic areas.
Develop internship programs to address workforce needs of business to provide students with on-the-job training and long-term employment prospects. Generates contract proposals, presents to industry regarding programs, training, opportunities, follows-up on proposal and finalizes training contracts for services. Ensures customer satisfaction and supports customers throughout the relationship with the goal of creating a long-term business partner relationship; seeks and takes appropriate actions on customer feedback; resolving difficult issues in a timely and professional manner. Manages projects and contracts; plans and directs projects that require managing time, budget and resources to meet objectives; manages fiscal responsibilities for delivering talent and workforce programs.
