Full-Time Faculty Position
Allegany College of Maryland, a comprehensive public two-year institution located in beautiful Western Maryland, invites applications for a 9-month per year, tenure-track teaching position in Criminal Justice starting in the Fall Semester of 2009-2010, which begins August 2009. The primary site will be at the main campus in Cumberland, MD; however, the applicant will also be required to teach at the PA Campuses. Master’s Degree required in Criminal Justice or related field; Doctor of Jurisprudence ( J.D.) or Ph.D. preferred. Strong preference will be given to applicants with law enforcement experience. Teaching experience preferred. Philosophy of teaching must be based on using Learner Centered Concepts. Effective leadership, interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills essential. Position is responsible for teaching courses including but not limited to the following: Constitutional Law, American Courts and Legal Systems, Criminal Law, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Evidence and Procedure, Introduction to Corrections, Police Administration, Criminalistics, and Criminal Investigation. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, advising, and committee service. Position requires commitment to online course development and delivery as well as interactive video conferencing. Th e salary range for the basic 9-month contract, teaching 15 credits each semester, is $33,195 to $42,732 depending upon qualifi cations and experience.
