Job Description

The Associate Dean of Academics serves as the Chief Academic Officer and a vital contributing member of the Dean/CEO’s Leadership Team as well as the Montana University System (MUS) academic officers. This position requires and is responsible for demonstrating the behaviors and values within Helena College's Mission and Core Themes, and must be a strategic leader of vision, innovation, and integrity. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • providing leadership for the development and educational integrity of all academic programs, goals, and curricula and relevant community non-credit educational programs;
  • developing and monitoring academic grants;
  • overseeing the development and maintenance of inter-institutional agreements and relationships with secondary and postsecondary educational institutions;
  • serving on and chairing a variety of institutional committees;
  • representing and maintaining a balanced interface between faculty and administration in collective bargaining efforts;
  • ensuring appropriate program development and data collection for annual institutional accountability reports, outcomes assessment activities, and compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards;
  • reporting and writing of institutional self-study reports;
  • staff and faculty supervision, including tenure and promotion reviews;
  • developing and administering the Academic Services budgets.

 

Requires a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, minimum seven years of experience in higher education (two-year higher education preferred) as both tenured faculty and administration. Prefer a Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
