The American Association of Community College’s Center for Workforce and Economic Development (Center) helps community colleges to better collaborate with the public workforce system, economic development entities, labor market intermediaries, and other community organizations to improve the prosperity of workers, businesses, and communities. The Center seeks to transform promising practices throughout the 1,200-institution community college network. Center activities include development and presentation of technical assistance, tools, and models to community colleges, presentations and seminars on key issues faced by community colleges and their partners; development and dissemination of printed and web material; and the design and delivery of the Workforce Development Institute.
The Project Assistant will provide programmatic, administrative, and logistical support for grant projects, the Workforce Development Institute (WDI), and other activities under the guidance of program managers. Project Assistant will report to the Center Director and will support Center leadership, staff, and contractors. Duties include conducting on-line research on community college programs and compiling reports, tracking invoices and receivables to ensure proper budget allocation, updating the database of department contacts, processing incoming correspondence, and coordinating faxes, copying, couriers, and shipping. Project Assistant also will coordinate the logistics for seminars and meetings, as well as support the annual WDI by assisting with registration, supporting speaker and VIP needs, and managing inquiries. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, plus a minimum of 3 years of similar work experience. Requires the ability to multitask, work independently, think critically, and provide exemplary customer service. Qualified candidates must also have proficiency in Microsoft Office; database experience is a plus. Attention to detail and excellent oral & written communications are also required.
