Applications are being accepted for the position of President of Southern Union State Community College. Southern Union is a comprehensive community college with three campuses located in Wadley, Opelika, and Valley, Alabama. The College serves approximately 5,000 students with a staff of 230 full‐time employees and 232 part-time employees, including a full-time faculty of 90 and a part-time faculty of 194.
The President will be expected to display high integrity and trustworthiness, and to provide the vision and courage needed to ensure the continued success of the Alabama Community College System. The President reports to the Chancellor of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. The Governing Board is the Alabama State Board of Education.
· A minimum of five years of senior-level, full-time administrative experience in an applicable institution, government agency, or industry is required.
· A master’s degree from an accredited institution is required; an earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
· Experience and knowledge of the mission and role of public two-year institutions, particularly their role in community economic development and workforce development, is required.
In addition, the successful candidate will possess:
