STUDENT DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Plans, manages, directs and oversees the daily activities of the North Campus Student Development Office. Acts as designee for the Vice President of Student Development in all policy and procedure issues at the North Campus. Coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies. Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Vice President of Student Development.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Vice President of Student Development.
Provides daily functional and technical supervision over professional, technical and support staff located at North Campus.
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENTS--Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides assistance to the Vice President of Student Development to ensure all policies and procedures are implemented at the North Campus.
Serves as senior Student Development staff member on the North Campus.
Oversees daily operations and provides direction and supervision to Student Development staff located at the North Campus.
Trains, motivates, and evaluates staff; establishes and monitors employee performance objectives; prepares and presents employee performance reviews; provides and coordinates staff training.
Develops, plans, and participates in the implementation of department goals. Initiates and recommends actions to accomplish these objectives.
Provides assistance to the Vice President of Student Development preparing and presenting reports and other necessary correspondence.
Directs the development and administration of assigned budget; directs the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures.
Coordinates North Campus Student Development activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies.
Act as designee for Vice President of Student Development administering the Student Code of Conduct; determining appropriate disciplinary actions and sanctions for those who violate the Code on the North Campus.
Advises the Vice President of Student Development, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and staff regarding alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
Serves as a liaison between students and faculty to clarify issues and problems; recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
Provides assistance to North Campus Lead instructors as appropriate. Provides student workshops, and hosts recruiting events, provides follow-up communication with prospective students.
Counsel students by providing information and assistance regarding admissions, residency status, program requirements, transfer guidelines, academic and career goals, test interpretation and review, registration, graduation, personal concerns, and all college policies and procedures.
Responds to all student emergencies on the North Campus. Collaborates with necessary faculty, staff, family members, campus departments, and community agencies to resolve the matter.
Promotes student leadership, clubs and organizations, and student activities on the North Campus.
Participates in the outreach activities of the college by making presentations to the community including high schools; assist in conducting student orientations and college tours.

Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Analytical skills and ability to report data in a concise format.
Demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Advise students regarding course work needs to meet academic program requirements.
Establish a rapport with students and create an atmosphere conducive to counseling.
Interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the college.
Refer students to appropriate college staff for additional counseling, program advising, testing and related matters.
Evaluate test scores and previous education and training.

Experience and Training Guidelines
A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in Student Development at a College or University and
A minimum of two years academic counseling and advising experience in a College or university
Experience with Colleague software is preferred.
A Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, or Higher Education from an accredited college or university is required or
A Master’s degree in a closely related field with a minimum of five years College supervisory experience in Student Development or as a College Academic Counselor
