Job Description

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC), serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for forty years, offers over 90 associate degrees and certificates, customized training and continuing education. The College's 240-acre campus lies at the crossroads of central New Jersey in North Branch. Associate Director of Institutional Research & Assessment

 

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting research on all aspects of the college for decision support, policy review and assessment of institutional performance. The Associate Director will offer support, information, and guidance in assisting the Director in developing an effective vision, strategy and procedures for the department.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

Maintains an awareness of new and changing national, regional and institutional information requirements.

Stays current on trends that affect higher education and assists the Director of IR on the appropriate responses.

Develops and maintains comprehensive working knowledge of accrediting agencies and the impact on the changing requirements on the college.

Works closely with the Director and academic administrators to provide data and analyses to support evaluation, assessment, planning and management decisions to advance the college’s mission.

Completes mandated reports and surveys for internal units, state and federal agencies, voluntary collaboration associations and external educational associations.

Assist the Director in gathering information for academic/administrative units for reports to accrediting agencies.

Periodically conducts studies to provide useful information about issues of importance to college senior management.

 

Requirements:

 

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master degree in any of the following fields, Social Science, Education, Higher Education or related field; and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research at a college or university or higher education association working with statistical analysis of an institution’s performance.

Experience with enterprise information system (Banner preferred).

Must possess:

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.

Demonstrated understanding of the mission of the community college.

Knowledge of data extraction and /or programming skills.

Proficiency with statistical packages for examples SAS or SPSS and Microsoft Office Suite applications.

 

Demonstrated ability to accomplish data exploration and analysis through interviews, surveys, calculating statistics, web research and database programming.

 

Knowledge of student learning assessment.

 

Knowledge of forecasting techniques used to project student enrollment and graduation rates.

 

Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
