Company

Johnson County Community College

Location

Overland Park, Kansas

Job Description

Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs

After 17 years of valued service, Johnson County Community College's chief academic officer is retiring. Therefore, the college is seeking a new executive vice president of academic affairs.

Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, is the largest institution of undergraduate education in the state and is a first-choice destination for both students and the community, serving approximately 21,000 credit students. At JCCC, students have a rich educational experience. Current initiatives include projects focused on student success, engagement and completion, while a new building to house a culinary academy is under construction.

JCCC also wins many awards and honors. JCCC has been recognized as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a survey conducted by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Over the years, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education have named several JCCC professors as Kansas Professor of the Year.

JCCC has strong community support. In January 2012, the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce Foundation study decisively proved the community's support of JCCC, when 93 percent of the participants said they had a favorable opinion of JCCC.

The executive vice president of academic affairs reports to the president and is a key member of the executive leadership team, which is responsible for the strategic direction of the college. He or she is responsible for the development and administration of all academic policies and programs including career and transfer degree programs, academic personnel, academic support services, library services, institutional research, student learning outcomes and the college's new Center for Innovation. The EVPAA administers a $52 million dollar budget supporting the academic branch. He or she oversees 376 full-time faculty and over 500 adjunct faculty, 14 academic deans as well as other academic administrators and staff. The EVPAA supports the faculty in developing and administering student learning outcomes and ensures excellence and quality in all academic programs. He or she works closely with the president and the Learning Quality Committee of the board of trustees to ensure appropriate board oversight of academic policies and priorities. JCCC is a board member of the distinguished League for Innovation in the Community College and the EVPAA acts as JCCC's representative on that board.
