Job Description

The Executive Director is expected to be an energetic advancement leader, possessing extensive understanding of the distinctive issues surrounding higher education advancement and constituency relations, meaningful engagement in leading major campaigns, and a demonstrated capacity to manage the diverse elements of an advancement team that includes five campus presidents and their support personnel in a complex college system. The Executive Director must be motivated by the opportunity to create and strengthen a culture of philanthropy and fundraising throughout the institution through measurable increases in capital, major, annual and planned giving. Responsible for the administration of the Metropolitan Community College Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Responsible for providing vision, leadership, strategic direction and day-to-day management of the MCC Foundation. Develops and executes strategies that maximize private support of MCC and develops long-term relationships with donors, board members and other community volunteers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a successful track record of fundraising management within a complex organization, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in leadership, supervision and management in the areas of advancement, fundraising, and strategic campaign implementation within a complex organization.
  • Experience in volunteer management, successful solicitation of major gifts and annual giving, and a track record of creating and maintaining an effective donor stewardship program.
  • Three (3) years significant experience in budget management and supervision of personnel.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including presentations, ability to interact with individuals at all levels including corporate, volunteer and elected boards and civic and community leaders and the ability to initiate and establish working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and motivate others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • Five (5) years experience with demonstrated expertise in advancement, alumni development, fundraising, strategic campaign implementation, volunteer management, major gift campaigns, annual gifts, legacy gifts and a track record of creating and maintaining an effective donor stewardship program within a higher education environment.
  • Formal fundraising training or Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credentials.
  • Experience in recruiting, leading and effectively working with a foundation board of directors.

COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
