Is responsible for retrieving, coordinating, and preparing data required/requested by external agencies and organizations such as Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) as well as internal customers, especially data needed for planning, policy formation, and decision making. Queries the PCC Colleague Administrative Computing System and the NCCCS Data Warehouse to satisfy divisions/departments requests for data/information. Researches and produces reports including the annual PCC Profile, FTE reports, grade distribution reports, trend analyses, and similar documents. Collaborates with others, as necessary, in the selection of survey tools, development of surveys, and data analysis. Is responsible for conducting/coordinating, by using descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, institutional research and assessment required for the advancement and effectiveness of the College. Analyzes and interprets data for end users. Prepares and delivers oral presentations of research projects to appropriate audiences. Teaches others how to retrieve data and produce studies.
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. Education background in educational/social science research, statistics, or related field is preferred.
One to two years of work experience in data retrieval, analysis and research, preferably in the field of higher education.
Must be skilled in the use of computer technology, specifically, MS Office Suite, spreadsheets, databases, word-processing, graphical presentation software and Internet research. Must be skilled in the manipulation/data extraction and management of complex databases. Experience with statistical packages, such as SAS or SPSS, is highly desirable. Familiarity with Datatel systems a plus. Must have the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Must have the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences and have good written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work successfully in a team environment, prioritize a variety of work assignments and meet deadlines.
