Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree required.  An earned doctorate is highly preferred.

2. A comprehensive and current knowledge of the community college mission and its associated issues, significant supervisory/managerial experience preferred.

3. Experience coordinating instructional programs highly preferred

4. Significant experience teaching in a college (doing so in a comprehensive community college) preferred.

5. Experience with distance education, multimedia technology, and online instructional program preferred

6. Knowledge of and involvement with service-learning, civic engagement and the “Learning College” model is highly desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Chief Academic Officer is a member of the College Executive Team responsible for the leadership and supervision of academics at the College.  This includes all credit programs of study within both the transfer and the career & technical divisions.  The Chief Academic Officer also supervises the Learning Resource Center and the off-campus instructional sites.  The Chief Academic Officer is directly responsible to the President.  The academic division directors, head librarian and instructional site personnel all report directly to the Chief Academic Officer.

Salary:

Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule B ($82,494-$113,926). Salary is based on education and experience.

About the College

Founded in 1898, Snead State Community College is the oldest community college in Alabama to award the two-year Associate’s Degree. The vision for Snead State Community College is to become a premier and unique Community College known for access and excellence, academic rigor and integrity, and good stewardship. Located in the heart of Sand Mountain, the Boaz campus of Snead State Community College is within driving distance of Birmingham and Huntsville. The 43-acre campus contains instructional facilities, athletic facilities, a dormitory, Learning Resource Center, and cafeteria, all designed to meet the needs of students. Snead State also has an off-campus site in Arab that is fully functional. Within its academic transfer and career technical programs, Snead State serves students within the Marshall, DeKalb, Blount, and Etowah counties and the surrounding area, and with one of the largest distance education programs in the State, the College reaches out to students beyond its service area.
