Bergen Community College (BCC), New Jersey’s largest community college, invites nominations and applications for its next President. Founded in 1965 to satisfy the region's need for a convenient, affordable and comprehensive higher education destination, Bergen is a college of choice for many of Bergen County’s top students, who transfer on to the nation’s leading institutions. The next President will have a tremendous opportunity to lead a strongly positioned institution with a faculty, staff, and student body that have created a unique and vibrant community in one of the most dynamic and exciting parts of the country.
Bergen Community College’s three sites, Paramus (main campus), Hackensack (Ciarco Learning Center) and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands), serve more than 32,000 students in degree, continuing education and adult education programs. The College maintains nearly 141 Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) academic programs and certificate-based programs. The College employs 800 full-time faculty members and staff and 700 part-time faculty, and has a total operating budget of $131.8 million. The College boasts cutting-edge facilities and opportunities for cultural awareness, civic engagement and service-learning.
BCC seeks a visionary leader with strong academic credentials, a commitment to student success, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong managerial skills, an open communication style, a commitment to the region and community, great energy, and the personal integrity to inspire the College community. The new President must be able to articulate a clear vision for the College and foster a collegial and collaborative environment that encourages a commitment to academic excellence. Candidates should have a history of academic leadership and documented accomplishments in creating and supporting a climate of openness, understanding, and mutual respect.
