The Broadening Impact: NSF-Funded Projects at Two-Year Colleges Conference was held on June 16-17, 2011, in Washington, DC. The event, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, brought together 300 leaders from all NSF programs open to two-year colleges to share promising strategies and lessons learned in STEM program development and improvement, to gain knowledge about the breadth and diversity of NSF programs, and to expand collaboration and network building.

ATE Student Success: A Report from the Birds of a Feather Session

The Birds of a Feather Sessions took place during the 17th National Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Principal Investigators Conference on October 28, 2010. This report addresses the conference theme, “ATE Student Success: Building a Diverse and Entrepreneurial Workforce,” and encompasses the work of more than 400 session participants as they identified key challenges that the ATE community faces in two key areas: 1) developing workplace and entrepreneurial skills and 2) increasing workforce diversity by serving underrepresented populations. The participants also identified promising strategies for addressing those challenges, as well as measures for gauging progress.
