International Student Guide to U.S. Community Colleges is the only publication of its kind that is designed to respond to the interest of prospective international students. Published annually, the Guide is designed to inform, advise, and assist postsecondary students in other countries who plan to pursue education options in the United States. Building Bridges: A Manual on Including People with Disabilities in International Exchange Programs

The fourth edition of "Building Bridges: A Manual on Including People with Disabilities in International Exchange Programs" is now available from the National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange, a project of Mobility International USA and the U.S. Department of State. This manual, published in 2006, features practical suggestions and creative ideas for including, recruiting and accommodating people with disabilities in international exchange programs. Expanded to 262 pages, Building Bridges includes information on more types of disabilities, updated air travel tips and new cross-cultural strategies. It also includes an extensive resource section, and comes with a free companion copy of "Rights and Responsibilities: A Guide to National and International Disability-Related Laws for International Exchange Organizations and Participants." Global Awareness in Community Colleges: A Report of a National Survey (PDF format)  

Chase, A. and Mahoney, J., Eds. (1996) Global Awareness in Community Colleges: A Report of a National Survey. Washington, D.C.: American Association of Community Colleges. ISBN: 0-87117-295-X. This report offers the results of an AACC Survey on International Education Programs at community colleges. Designed to gauge the broad directions of the colleges' involvement in international education programs and services, this publication reports the responses of 624 colleges. The survey results indicate, among other facts, that over 80 percent of the responding colleges offer some type of international education program, and that colleges have had some sort of academic or business connection to 143 countries.


NEW - The Institute of International Education (IIE) has released a briefing paper entitled "Educational Exchange between the United States and China," which examines the growth in rates of academic exchange programs between the countries, in addition to the historical trends shaping these statistics.  The briefing paper also presents the current state of U.S.-China educational exchange and documents the variety of study abroad program offerings and existing funding opportunities for American students wishing to study in China. EducationUSA Europe and Eurasia released a new report, "Trends Report: From Reykjavik to Vladivostok: Student Advising Trends from EducationUSA." The report includes forty-three country profiles from Europe and Eurasia, information on EducationUSA advising centers and relevant contacts, in-country trends and student outreach opportunities for 2008 and 2009. Multicultural Strategies for Community Colleges

Kee, A.M. and Mahoney, J.R., Eds. (1995). Multicultural Strategies for Community Colleges: From Diversity to Synergy. Washington, D.C.: American Association of Community Colleges. 96 pages. Building on the "Making Good on Our Promises: Moving Beyond Rhetoric to Action," report, this monograph offers a compilation of programs and services outlining successful hands-on programs at specific colleges. Strategy abstracts are divided into sections on students, faculty, administrators, and campus. The book also includes an extended bibliography for further research, as well as the agenda contained in the 1993 special report.
