Service Inclusion for Community College Students Eight community colleges received grant awards for Project Reach: Service Inclusion for Community College Students, a three-year national initiative of AACC through a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNS) and its Engaging Persons with Disabilities, New Special Initiatives Program. These colleges will develop opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in service learning and learn life skills that will have an impact on their employment, careers, and personal development. Service learning combines classroom instruction with community service, focusing on critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility. Service learning programs involve students in activities that address local needs while developing their academic skills and commitment to their community.
