Market-Responsive Community Colleges The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Center for Workforce Preparation (CWP), in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges, is developing a comprehensive guide for community colleges and chambers of commerce to create effective workforce development partnerships. Chambers of commerce and community colleges often work independently of one another. This initiative will develop the capacity of chambers of commerce and community colleges to be more market-responsive and relevant to the local employment needs of the community businesses. ** NEW Publication: "Working Together: Creating Market-Responsive Workforce Solutions" - This CD, developed in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a comprehensive guide for chambers of commerce and businesses, community colleges, and workforce professionals to work together in support of initiatives that develop the capacity of community colleges to meet the local employment needs of business. - To highlight particularly relevant models of market-responsive community colleges
- To develop toolkits for chambers of commerce and community colleges to use in developing market-responsive strategies that meet the labor needs of the community
This project consists of three phases: - Analysis of feedback from identified market-responsive community colleges on issues that will frame a national dialogue on workforce development priorities and solutions and identify exemplary models
- Organization of a series of forums for chambers of commerce and community colleges. Each forum will challenge the leaders of community colleges and chambers of commerce to identify promising practices, market-responsive challenges, and keys to the economic success of communities across the country
- Production of "how to" guides for both local chambers of commerce and community colleges that describe the successful elements and promising practices of proven market-responsive chamber of commerce-community college partnerships and provide models and guidance on implementation
