Benefits and Responsibilities

Benefits to Participating Colleges

Faces of the Future
survey reports are the best source of reliable and up-to-date information you can use to:

  • identify the educational and career intentions of your students.
  • assess your students’ attitudes of your school’s programs, services, and environmental characteristics.
  • identify the characteristics of your students.
  • compare your students’ characteristics, intentions, and opinions with those of students at other community colleges across the nation.

ACT will provide a comprehensive reporting package including summary and graphics reports for credit and noncredit students, a national comparison data report, and a data CD. Summary reports and data CD three to four weeks after the completed surveys are received by ACT. Graphics and national comparison reports will be shipped in early March, 2008.

Responsiblities of Participating Colleges

The Faces of the Future survey will require substantial commitment on the part of the college. This commitment will take various forms, and take place at various times during the survey period. The following list outlines required procedures:

Pre-survey (Summer, 2007)

  • Select a campus coordinator and survey team. The team should consist of key personnel from the credit and noncredit sides of the college to guarantee participation of classes selected to receive the survey, as well as a member from institutional research
  • Identify all potential courses for the fall term – credit and noncredit
  • Select courses to participate based on guidelines supplied by AACC-ACT
  • Verify the approximate number of students selected to be surveyed, and the breadth of course types selected to be surveyed
  • Notify instructors of upcoming survey
  • Determine appropriateness of administration to noncredit classes (course too short, contractor will not allow survey, etc.)

Survey (Fall, 2007)

  • Verify approximate number of students in selected classes from summer enrollment estimates
  • Separate surveys into groups to administer to classes
  • Provide surveys to class instructors for administration
  • Collect surveys from selected courses
  • Verify all selected classes participated – otherwise find suitable replacement courses
  • Send materials back to ACT
