About Community Colleges Remedial Education

The AACC research brief on remedial education (pdf format)
The brief contains information gathered from the national study on remedial education conducted by AACC. The study gathered information on the institutional policies and practices that shape remedial education in community colleges. Issues examined include student assessment, faculty teaching remedial courses, use of technology in these courses and the provision of remedial education to business and industry.

Executive Issue Paper - Remedial Education: A Social and Economic Imperative
The 1997 Executive Issue Paper suggests that a gross mismatch exists between the competencies of individuals attempting to enter the job market and the needs of today's employers. This gap between the skills needed and those possessed by the workforce continues to expand, threatening the growth and prosperity of American business and industry and the economy.
