Saunders is a world champion wheelchair athlete and motivational speaker whom you may meet in the Academic Marketplace. A victim of an explosion in South Texas, Saunders' doctors doubted he would beat the odds and live, let alone become an athlete. (Del Mar College, TX) Richard M. Scrushy serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of HealthSouth Corporation in Birmingham, Alabama. When Scrushy enrolled in Jefferson State Community College, he rarely had money for lunch, but that the faculty treated him as if he was "somebody," and he began to believe that he was.
