Work with Your Local Media to Help Pass the American Graduation Initiative

3/5/2010

The American Graduation Initiative (AGI) remains stalled in the U.S. Senate.  A variety of complex political factors, primarily related to health care reform, have kept the AGI from moving in the Senate, after easily passing the House of Representatives last September as part of SAFRA.

We have already asked you on multiple occasions to ask your Senators to ensure that the AGI legislation gets enacted, but we also believe that a focused media strategy may help our efforts.  To that end, AACC has developed a model op-ed in support of the AGI legislation that could be used in your local media outlets.   We urge you to seek placement of this, with any campus-specific modifications as appropriate, particularly in relation to the financial pressures and related capacity issues that your campus may be facing.

We appreciate your efforts to help get the American Graduation Initiative signed into law.
