Quote from President

“People describe us as a college of the community. I love that phrase. We play a major role in training the workforce, but we also provide leadership on boards, in community problem-solving, and in preparing students to become engaged citizens. With the establishment of  a new Center for Civic Engagement this fall, our role in this area will only expand in the years to come.”

Interesting Facts

  • This fall, Northampton opened a brand new campus built to LEED-gold standards. Solar panels will provide about 40% of the campus's annual electrical needs, and a geothermal system will provide 10% of the cooling and heating requirements.
  • Northampton has had only four presidents in its 47-year history.
  • Faculty and staff speak with pride of "The Northampton Way" to describe a student-centered culture where innovation, BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) and collaborative effort are prized.
  • The college's 40,000+ alumni include a four-time Pulitzer Prize-recipient, an Academy Award-winning documentary director, CEOs, numerous health care professionals, educators, engineers, architects, artists, chefs, and individuals with expertise in a wide variety of technical fields.
