At a Glance
- The annual Mountain Music School brings together students of all ages for a week of learning, music and fun. The event is dedicated to the preservation and continuation of Appalachian music and culture and includes "ear training" classes in "old-time" fiddle, claw-hammer banjo, folk guitar, mandolin and dulcimer.
- Since 1972, musicians and craftspeople from southwest Virginia, east Tennessee and eastern Kentucky have come to MECC every October to participate in Home Craft Days, which includes crafts and demonstrations of weaving, pottery making, grist milling, wood crafting, basket weaving, broom making, quilting and tatting.
