Interesting Facts

  •  HCC has received a $4.3 million Title III grant and a $3.15 million Title V grant that are being utilized to expand educational opportunities for the community’s Hispanic population which make up 26% of the college’s overall enrollment. Through these grants, the college has established new academic and support service programs in STEM fields as well as enhanced efforts to improve Hispanic student retention, completion, and transfer rates.  
  • The college hosts the annual Black, Brown and College Bound Summit that examines strategies for increasing the retention and persistence rates of minority males in higher education. Through the creation of targeted efforts like our Hope Scholars program, the college has increased minority retention by 22%.
  • Graduates from the college’s fire academy program boast a 100% passage rate on the state certification exam.
