Miramar’s tremendous faculty has worked tirelessly to create programs that address the region’s workforce development needs in Aviation, Bio Tech, Business, Medical Laboratory Technician and Advanced Transportation Technologies.”
- The Aviation Technology program has entered into an agreement with Delta Airlines to become one of 38 schools nationwide that will assist the air carrier in providing qualified aircraft maintenance technicians. In 2017, three former graduates have been hired by Delta to work at its San Diego Lindbergh Field operations center.
- The College recently had its accreditation with the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges reaffirmed for seven years through 2024.
- The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has accepted San Diego Miramar College’s candidacy for ACBSP accreditation of business degree programs offered through its business department. The Miramar College Diesel Technology Program was awarded a Certificate of Accreditation from NATEF for medium/heavy duty trucks in the following areas: brakes, diesel engines, drive train, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning. hydraulics, preventive maintenance, and suspension and steering. This is the first time the Diesel Technology Program has received NATEF accreditation.
- For the 5th consecutive year Miramar College has produced a winner of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Isak Mahamoud was one of only 55 community college students, from a nationwide pool of 3,000 applicants, selected for this honor in 2017. The scholarship is for up to $40,000.00 per year and is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses-including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees-for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year college or university.
