Summary

In Ohio, Bio industry organization BioOhio worked with businesses to collect workforce data, the collaborated with college partners state-wide to develop curriculum based on business need. They secured a $5 million DOL grant for a bio workforce effort. Columbus State Community College, which hadn’t previously had any bio programming, developed a bioscience program and pathway for bio manufacturing. The pilot class of six graduated in Sept. 2011. A class of 32 will graduate in March 2012. Business partners include Abbott Nutrition, Battelle Manufacturing, and GFS Chemicals.
