 Doreen Larson 

POSITION SINCE 2005 -- President of Pierpont Community and Technical College (Pierpont). Pierpont operates from 6 locations across the 13 counties in North Central West Virginia.

PREVIOUS -- Served as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Holyoke Community College (HCC) in Holyoke, Massachusetts, worked for over 10 years at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio progressing from a faculty member, to Dean, and then Assistant Vice President of Student Access and Success. Served as a faculty member at Kent State University in the School of Special Education.

AFFILIATIONS -- Serves on the AACC Commission for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Chair of the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Youth Academy, 2012-14 President of the West Virginia AACC, chaired the 2012 United Way Campaign for Marion County West Virginia setting a record high in fund raising, Executive Board Member of the Excellence in Women’s Health in West Virginia and an Executive Board of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the Board of Seven Stories Theater Company.

EDUCATION -- Ph.D. in Special Education from Kent State University, a M.A. in Education from John Carroll University, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor’s in Special Education.

OTHER -- Presentations: “The Conflict Management Toolkit” for the Project Management Institute West Virginia/Ohio Valley Chapter (January 2015), “The Ivory Tower of Babel”, 2015 Innovations Conference.  Received the 2012 Marion County Chamber Women’s Leadership Award, 2010 Region I Community College Professional Award from NASPA, and 2009 Massachusetts Women in Leadership Award from the Massachusetts Women in Higher Education Association. Dr. Larson is proud to note that her three sons all began their higher education in a community college, as did her spouse, Leonard Larson.
