 2015 Faculty Innovation 

The AACC Faculty Innovation Award recognizes faculty of AACC member colleges who have demonstrated leadership in the development and implementation of a campus program that has had positive impact on the learning experience for students.  The outcome of this program should result in the improvement of student completion numbers within a course or a degree field.  Nominees should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to student access and success.

Criteria used to evaluate applications are as follows:

  • Leads substantive and ongoing innovation in the classroom that promotes and supports student access and success.
  • The initiative for which the faculty member is being nominated should be scalable and has resulted in improved completion numbers for the college.
  • The innovation:
    •  Focuses on access and student success
    • Shows a move from low rates of student success to high rates of student success
    •  Supports eradicating achievement gaps
    • Is based on data
    • Incorporates the use data analytics, educational diagnostics, and learning management systems to ensure that students are achieving mastery within the course or program.


  • Colleges led by current members of the AACC Board of Directors are not eligible to apply.
  • Previous winners in this category are not eligible to apply.
  • Award finalists in a previous year are eligible to apply in the same category for the subsequent year.  However, the finalist must submit an enhanced application. Enhanced means that the applicant must show further improvement in student outcomes. 

General Guidelines and Nomination Instructions:

All nominees must be employed by current AACC member colleges.

The nomination form must be signed by the chief executive officer of the nominating institution.

Each award is given annually, and the honoree(s) will be recognized at the AACC Annual Convention.

Nominating packages (excluding required photos) should be transmitted ELECTRONICALLY IN ONE PDF via the link provided at the bottom of this page to the Awards of Excellence Hightail Mailbox AND include the following:

  • A statement not to exceed 200 words establishing the rationale for why the nominee should be selected as the Excellence Award recipient.
  • Minimum two letters of support, one signed by the nominating college CEO.
  • Additional support materials (i.e. news coverage, fact sheet, descriptions) not to exceed five (5) pages.
  • 5 publication quality photos [300 dpi resolution or higher]: (1) head shot  of the college faculty member, (1) photo of the faculty member in front of a campus building or in front of his/her classroom, and (3) photos of faculty member in classroom or with students.

IMPORTANT: Nominating package should be contained IN ONE PDF and the file name should be the NAME OF THE FACULTY MEMBER. [Example: John Doe.pdf] Also, please include "National Awards Program Nomination" in the subject line provided when you click on the link below to ensure proper delivery.

Deadline for receipt of entries has been extended to December 5, 2014. Faculty members selected as finalists for the award will be notified in advance and will be provided with a complimentary convention registration. The name of the award winner will be embargoed until announced at the AACC Convention.
