The AACC Faculty Innovation Award recognizes faculty of AACC member institutions who have demonstrated leadership in the development and implementation of a campus program that has had positive impact on the learning experience for students.

Associate Professor

Chattanooga State Community College (Tennessee)

In the course of 3 years, John Squires assisted with the redesign of 12 math courses at Chattanooga State Community College. Squires, associate professor of mathematics and head of the math department, has become a recognized leader in the nation’s reform initiatives of mathematics.

John Bennett
Mathematics Instructor

Halifax Community College (North Carolina)

John Bennett has a way of making mathematics relevant and understandable to each of his students. As a math instructor at Halifax Community College (HCC), Bennett has raised student outcomes in developmental mathematics and has employed technological initiatives that enable him to connect with students both inside and outside the classroom.

Myra Snell
Professor of Mathematics

Los Medanos College (California)

At Los Medanos College (LMC), an innovative one-semester course is getting students through remedial algebra quicker and preparing them for college-level statistics. Math professor Myra Snell developed Path2Stats and has been recognized nationally for her work in remediation reform.

Emily Rosado
Associate Professor

Montgomery College (Maryland)

A commitment to incorporating new, innovative teaching techniques and accessoriented modules led Emily Rosado, associate professor at Montgomery College, to create a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) that prepares students for college English courses. Rosado is the first Maryland community college faculty member to develop and teach a MOOC.
